Things to Do at Seven Springs This Fall

Autumnfest, peak foliage, 20+ festivals, waterfall hikes, and the last golf of the year — how to fill a fall weekend at Seven Springs with the whole group.

Things to Do at Seven Springs This Fall

Fall might be the best-kept secret at Seven Springs. Summer's crowds thin out, the Laurel Highlands put on one of the best color shows on the East Coast, and the festival calendar gets busier than any other time of year. Here's how we'd spend a fall weekend — all of it within reach of one house.

Catch Autumnfest on the mountain

The resort's signature fall festival runs three October weekends in 2026 (Oct 3–4, 10–11, and 17–18): live music, craft vendors, and chairlift rides over the turning canopy. You're staying on the mountain it happens on — walk over or take the free resort shuttle. No parking, no driving, no designated driver debates.

Time the leaves

Peak color in the Laurel Highlands usually lands early-to-mid October, and the 2026 window runs roughly October 3–25. Exact peak shifts a week either way depending on the year, so if color is the whole point, book the window, not a single day. The scenic drives start from the driveway; the Wolf Rocks overlook is the payoff hike.

Pick a festival — there are more than twenty

Autumnfest is just the headliner. Between Labor Day and Halloween the region runs 20+ festivals: Fort Ligonier Days (Oct 9–11), Confluence Pumpkinfest, both Bedford Fall Foliage weekends, the Delmont Apple 'N Arts Festival, haunted attractions for the teenagers, and Idlewild's not-too-spooky HallowBOO! on weekends for the little kids. We keep the full dated lineup — with every date linked to the booking calendar — on our fall festivals page.

Get to the waterfalls

Ohiopyle State Park is about a half hour away and it's arguably better in October than July: Cucumber Falls framed in color, the Great Allegheny Passage rail-trail as an easy, flat family bike ride, and the Youghiogheny gorge in full show. Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater is on the way — foliage-season tours sell out, so book those tickets ahead.

Squeeze in the last rounds of golf

The Highlands course plays through late October, and it's a short walk from the front door. Shoulder-season golf means quieter tee sheets and sweater weather — the best-value golf of the year.

Then come home to the hot tub

The community pool closes after Labor Day, but the private hot tub on the deck is open year-round — and a cold October night under a clear sky is exactly what it was made for. Inside: a full kitchen for the harvest-dinner cook-in, a wet bar, and big screens for the football afternoons. Mountain Haven sleeps 16+ across 3 bedrooms, a den, and a bunk loft, with 3 full and 2 half baths — bring both families.

Peak-color weekends book first, by months. Check October dates, or browse everything there is to do nearby.
