Three weekends, three different trips
The fall calendar is busy enough that the weekend you pick changes the trip. Here is the honest read on each.
Late September
Festival season, before the crowds
Mountain Craft Days, the Flax Scutching Festival and the Mount Pleasant Glass Festival all land before peak color arrives. Fewer visitors, easier dates to get, and the mountain to yourselves — the trade is that the leaves are still turning.
Early–mid October
Peak color and peak calendar
The big one: Autumnfest at the resort, Fort Ligonier Days, both Bedford Fall Foliage weekends, Confluence Pumpkinfest, and the Indigenous Peoples’ long weekend — stacked against the best color of the year. These are the dates that book first, by months.
Late October
Bonfires and the quiet tail
Haunted trails, the Greendance Winery open house, the Pour Tour bonfire finale, and Halloween weekend at Idlewild. Color is on the back half of peak, crowds have thinned, and midweek dates open up.

The calendar below is the full 2026 slate — resort events, nearby festivals and the holiday weekends they land on. Autumnfest happens on the mountain you are staying on. Fort Ligonier Days and Idlewild’s HallowBOO! are about a half hour out. Everything else is a comfortable day trip. Pick a weekend and the booking calendar opens with those dates already in it.

After the leaves
The fall push doesn’t stop at Halloween
The same thing that makes this house work for a festival weekend — one kitchen, one long table, room for sixteen — is exactly what the next three windows are for. Thanksgiving week, the quiet stretch before Christmas when the snowmaking starts and the holiday crowds have not arrived, and winter weekdays, when the same mountain runs with a fraction of the people. Those dates are open now, and they are the easiest ones on the calendar to get.

What fall festivals are near Seven Springs in 2026?+
More than twenty between Labor Day and Halloween. On the resort itself, Autumnfest runs three October weekends (Oct 3–4, 10–11 and 17–18) with live music, craft vendors and chairlift foliage rides. Within an easy drive: Mountain Craft Days at the Somerset Historical Center, the Stahlstown Flax Scutching Festival, Fort Ligonier Days, Idlewild’s HallowBOO!, Confluence Pumpkinfest, the Delmont Apple ’N Arts Festival and both Bedford Fall Foliage Festival weekends. Which weekend should we book for peak fall color?+
Early-to-mid October is the usual peak in the Laurel Highlands, with the 2026 window running roughly October 3–25. Peak shifts about a week either way depending on the year, so if color is the point, book the window rather than betting on one specific Saturday. The Indigenous Peoples’ long weekend (Oct 10–12) sits dead center — and goes first.
How far are these festivals from the house?+
Autumnfest is on the resort — you can walk to it or take the free shuttle. Fort Ligonier Days and Idlewild’s HallowBOO! are both around thirty minutes. The Stahlstown, Somerset and Indian Creek valley events are closer still. Bedford, Delmont and Greensburg are the long end of the list — full-day trips rather than an evening out.
Do the festival dates ever change?+
Yes. The dates here follow the Laurel Highlands Visitors Bureau’s published 2026 fall calendar, but individual organizers do move or cancel events. Every listing links through to the Visitors Bureau events hub — check there before you build a day around one.
Is there anything to do here after the festivals end?+
That is the best-kept part of the calendar. Thanksgiving week fills the house the way it was meant to be filled. The first three weeks of December bring early-season skiing and holiday-lit towns without the holiday crowds. And from January into March, Sunday-through-Thursday stays get you the same mountain with the shortest lift lines of the year.
How many people does the house sleep?+
Sixteen-plus, across 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms — three bedrooms, a den and a kids’ bunk loft — with a full kitchen, a wet bar, big-screen lounge space and a private hot tub on the deck. It is built for the size of group a festival weekend tends to turn into.
