Things to Do at Seven Springs in Winter
Pennsylvania's largest ski area, snow tubing, holiday towns, and a hot tub under the snow — how to fill a winter weekend at Seven Springs with the whole group.

Winter is what Seven Springs is famous for — Pennsylvania's largest ski area, with 33 slopes and trails, a 750-foot vertical drop across 285 acres, and night skiing to stretch the day. Here's how to fill a winter weekend when your whole group is staying on the mountain.
Ski and ride, without the car
The free resort shuttle picks up near the house and runs to the slopes, so nobody's scraping ice off a windshield at 8 a.m. The season typically runs from mid-December into mid-March, backed by serious snowmaking. Ten lifts serve terrain for every level, and the terrain parks — seven to eight progressive setups, among the largest park systems in the Northeast — keep the teenagers busy all day.
Not everyone skis, and that's fine:
- Snow tubing — lift-served lanes, zero skill required, maximum laughing.
- Trillium Spa — a shuttle ride away for the group members whose idea of winter sports is a massage.
- Cross-country and snowshoeing — Laurel Ridge State Park's XC ski center is 20–30 minutes out, with groomed trails through quiet woods.
Do the holiday towns
December in the Laurel Highlands is genuinely charming: Ligonier's Light Up Night and Christmas in the Diamond turn the storybook town square into a postcard (about 30 minutes away), the Ligonier Holiday Market runs weekends, and Overly's Country Christmas — a drive-through light display that's been running for decades — is worth the 50-minute trip with kids in pajamas. The resort throws its own New Year's Eve celebration, and Fallingwater runs a limited winter tour schedule if your group wants the architecture without the crowds.
Know when to come
Christmas week, New Year's, MLK weekend, and Presidents' weekend book first — every year. But here's the local knowledge: winter weekdays are the best-kept secret on the mountain. Sunday-through-Thursday stays get you the same slopes with the shortest lift lines of the season, open dates when the weekends are long gone, and the house at its quietest. If your group can flex off the weekend, that's the move.
Après, at home
The point of bringing the whole group into one house is the part after the slopes: the private hot tub on the deck (snow falling optional but recommended), a wet bar, big screens, and a full kitchen for the chili night. Mountain Haven sleeps 16+ across 3 bedrooms, a den, and a kids' bunk loft, with 3 full and 2 half baths and gear space for everyone's boots and boards.
